75th Anniversary We Love Our Schools Card Campaign

In honor of AFS-USA’s 75th Anniversary of student exchange, we want to show our schools some love for Valentine’s Day. We know that hosting exchange students requires a school that is open to AFS so we’re taking this opportunity to let them know how much our students and families appreciate their engagement in student exchange. We are hopeful that every volunteer team will want to celebrate their schools this Valentine’s Day with us!

We would like every volunteer team to commit to sending/delivering either 75 or 35 cards to their local schools on or right before Valentine’s Day 2023 (February 14th). AFS-USA will send you the cards, sample message templates, and some ideas for creative card deliveries, but we need know which volunteer in the team will take responsibility for receiving the cards and working with the students and host families to write out the cards for the school leaders, counselors, and teachers. Each team is asked to designate one volunteer using this form by December 18th to receive the card delivery and updates regarding the project. 

The Card Campaign Timeline

Now until December 18th – Every AFS-USA Volunteer Area Team should designate ONE volunteer to take the lead on the “We Love Our Schools Card Campaign”. That volunteer should sign up HERE.

December 19th – Confirmation emails will be sent to designated volunteers with additional information for them to start preparing. 

January 2nd – Card bundles will be shipped to the designated volunteer in each team. 

Between January 2nd and February 14th – Every Area Team works with their students and host families to write personal messages in their 35/75 cards and determines their plan for sending/delivering. 

*This could be done at an in-person team event/orientation or via a virtual card writing event where students dictate the messages inside the cards and the designated volunteer mails them out. You can find more card writing ideas and sample messages HERE! 

February 14th – Cards are delivered to all schools for Valentine’s Day (or they could be mailed about 4-5 days in advance--area teams are responsible for postage).
