Our strongest AFS volunteer teams actively plan for the future.
Key Steps in Planning & Goal Setting:
- Talk about a Team Vision. Have a big picture conversation with team members. Ask questions like, what do want to accomplish in the short term and in the long term? More local impact, more school relationships, more American students going abroad?
- Analyze the data. Start with the Team page in MyAFS to understand the current make up of your team. Check the quality assessments and team dashboard with your Organizational Development Specialist (OD).
- Get informed on national goals and initiatives and utilize the resources in your local team plans. Make sure you have team representation on national work groups and at conferences to keep the link strong.
- Plan together. By including your Organizational Development Specialist (OD), Regional Director (RD) and a wide range of volunteer voices your team can develop plans that have broad support.
