2024-25 FLEX (NH 24 Academic Year) Arrival Dates

Please find tentative arrival dates for the NH24 Academic Year FLEX students below. Due to ongoing fluctuations in airline schedules and country entry/exit restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, all inbound dates are subject to change.

Local pick-ups:

Host families in Baltimore & Washington D.C. area will be meeting students arriving off of their international flights at Dulles Airport (IAD). 

*Host families should plan to meet FLEX students at Dulles-IAD airport when they arrive on their international flights.* 

There are 3 local pick-up FLEX students from the following countries below:

Kazakhstan - local pickup date at IAD airport is 15-Aug-24

Moldova - local pickup date at IAD airport is 21-Aug-24

Mongolia - local pickup date at IAD airport is 21-Aug-24

Once host families connect with their students at Dulles Airport, the most important step before departing the airport is to check-in with FLEX staff in red t-shirts to make sure staff have taken a picture of the students' DS-2019s and visas. Once they've checked in with staff and confirmed this, they are free to depart. Please call FLEX emergency travel line at 1-800-841-6460 if there are ANY problems or changes to your student’s travel.

MIUSA Orientation: FLEX students with disabilities will fly to Eugene, Oregon for the MIUSA workshop on August 9, 2024 and fly to their host communities on August 14, 2024.

2024-25 YES (NH24 Academic Year) Arrival Dates

Please find tentative arrival dates for the NH24 YES students below (all students are Academic Year). Due to ongoing fluctuations in airline schedules and country entry/exit restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, all inbound dates are subject to change.

Please note that upon arrival in the US, the YES students will participate in an Arrival Orientation in Washington, D.C. for American Councils-organized travel, and Newark, NJ for AFS-organized travel, organized by YES staff.

Local pick-ups: American Councils plans to use IAD and AFS plans to use EWR for international arrivals (see arrival airports in the chart below).  Students who are placed nearby these airports need to be picked up from the orientation on the Host Community Arrival date. Please note that for IAD arrivals who are placed in the region, we cannot book flights to BWI or DCA, and for EWR arrivals who are placed in the region, we cannot book flights to JFK, LGA, or BDL.

MIUSA Orientation: All AFS-placed students with a disability will be attending the MIUSA orientation in Eugene, OR from August 9-14, 2024 and will travel to their host communities on August 15, 2024.

2024-25 CBYX (NH 24 Academic Year) Arrival Dates

CBYX participant arrival dates align with AFS core student arrivals. The planned arrival dates for core participants (non-ECA Sponsored Programs) are August 7 and September 11, 2024, unless otherwise agreed upon by AFS-USA with the sending partner.
