This article will walk through how to find to which scholarships the student has applied, the amount (if any) they have been awarded, and their remaining balance. A glossary is included to help you understand the different stages and statuses of an applicant’s scholarship.
First follow these steps to find the student in Global Link:
1. Select Participant Application from the Search menu on the left and enter the student's name.
2. Click on the student's Service Ref number here:
2.1. If you are checking on the scholarship award history for the participants that have returned from the program. make sure you change the service status from "Open" to "All" and then click search.
This action will list all existing service cases. The student may have multiple service cases for various reasons. Often, they have just started different applications by mistake. Thus, to identify the accurate service case, select those that say "Participation" under the Service Stage and "Returned" under the SF Stage, which indicates that the participant completed the program and returned home.
3. Once the Service Case: Detail page opens, look for the Finance Info. tab in the upper left.
4. Click on the Sponsor/Scholarship tab to see all of the scholarships for which the student has applied:
In this tab you will be able to find all awarded scholarships, including your team’s local scholarship and any national scholarships awarded by AFS. It is not specified which scholarships are local, therefore, if you are unsure, we advise you to consult with your team’s local leadership. If this tab is blank, it means the student has not been awarded any scholarships yet.
Students move through different stages and statuses as they move through the scholarship application process. Here are the definitions for decoding the Stage and Status columns:
Scholarship Status | Scholarship Stage | What it Means |
Pending | Finalist | Application reviewed and student won award, but the student hasn't returned the Acceptance Form yet. |
Accepted | Winner | Student submitted the Acceptance Form, and the award was posted to their account. |
Closed | Winner | Student won an award but has since decided not to go abroad. |
