It is important that teams log all orientations that are held in the team in Global Link. This requires volunteers to create what is known as an "activity" in Global Link. Once an "activity" has been created, you can then log who participated in the orientation. In this way AFS can track and ensure participation.
Here is a link on how to do this in Global Link:
Creating an AFS Activity in Global Link
We request using the standards below in the naming of your activities to make it easier and more efficient to search and find activities and enhance collaboration between volunteers and staff.
The format to use is: Area Team Name + ORIENTATION TYPE + Cycle
Here are some examples:
- Missouri Gateway POST-ARRIVAL NH17
- Florida MID-STAY NH17
- Big Sky PRE-RETURN NH17
- DelMarPa END-OF-STAY NH17
- Silver & Gold PDO* SH18
- Greater West Metro HFO* SH18
- Finger Lakes (ROC) Arrivals NH16 [Note: Arrivals have Gateway airport codes as a reference]
*Please note that “PDO” (Pre-Departure Orientation) and “HFO” (Host Family Orientation) are fine to use since the Orientation names are so long.
