Volunteers should consult the COVID-19: FAQs and Resources section for the most up-to-date information regarding Hosting and Sending programs in the 20-21 cycle.
Objective:
The End-of-Stay (EOS) Chaperone is responsible for the safety and well being of the AFS students traveling from the EOS site to the Departure Day site by bus/plane
Responsibilities:
- Chaperone a group of AFS students to their Departure day site
- Respond to emergency situations should they arise
- Keep the Travel staff coordinator informed of any problems with the bus(late, break down etc) that
- Would affect their arrival time or affects the well being of the students
Time Required:
1-2 hours training
24-48 hours for the actual EOS orientation and bus/plane trip
Responsible to:
End of Stay Coordinator and Staff Travel Coordinator
Requirements:
- Department of State's Local Coordinator Training (DoS)
- Hosting and Support Affiliations Training
- Must be 25 years of age or older
- Must be a registered AFS-USA volunteer
- Ideally should not be a host family member - please contact the Regional Travel and Logistics
- Coordinator if your preferred chaperone is currently hosting to confirm approval
Competencies Required:
- Enjoys interacting with young adults
- Flexibility
- Physical stamina-ability to put in long hours over 1-2 day period
- Ability to sit/sleep on a coach bus for long periods of time
