While all contacts listed on MyAFS are required, there are occasions where a contact may have been missed. If you were unable to complete a contact, there is now an option to record that a required contact did not happen.
When you are looking at the Contacts & Visits page for a student, if there are any overdue contacts, this alert will appear:
Upon clicking on ‘let us know’, you will be asked to identify which contact was missed and why. Once a contact has been marked as missed, it will not show up in your To-Do list.
This option will only pop up once the contact is overdue. If you know ahead of time you will not be able to fulfill a requirement, you must let your Team’s Liaison Coordinator or other volunteer leadership know so they can identify another volunteer to complete the requirement before it becomes overdue.
Please keep in mind that even if you indicate a 30/60 in-home visit did not happen within the required dates, an in-home visit must still be conducted and recorded as soon as possible
Once we know that you were unable to complete the contact, we’ll stop reminding you to record it. This will also prompt us to ask other volunteers if they may have completed the contact.
Conversely, if any member of your team lets us know that they did not complete a contact, you will see a request like this at the top of your MyAFS page:
If you had any contact with those students or their host family, please check and see if you can enter any of those missed contacts. If you did not have any contact with those listed as missing contacts or visit, you can click “Dismiss” to remove this prompt from your MyAFS page.
