Want to be a School Representative but not sure where to start?
You’re in luck! We’ve created a roadmap designed to guide New School Representatives through a learning path to get started with School Outreach and build a strong relationship with local schools. The full roadmap is divided into three levels, each complete with an accompanying “driver’s manual” for context.
Level 1 Roadmap encompasses tasks that an aspiring School Representative can easily complete with a minimal time commitment and beginner AFS knowledge. Each of these steps are fundamental prerequisites to building a strong and meaningful relationship with a school.
Start with the Level 1 Roadmap if you are brand new to School Outreach.
Level 2 Roadmap builds upon the information gained and tasks completed in Level 1. Level 2 guides School Representatives to begin reaching out to their chosen school and how to document their interactions appropriately. Many of the Level 2 tasks, while not particularly difficult, do require continued follow-up.
Start with the Level 2 Roadmap if you already have a school in mind you’d like to work with.
Level 3 Roadmap guides School Representatives through tasks that require higher level knowledge about the local school, their activities, and their policies. As in Level 2, a few of these tasks also require ongoing effort in order to maintain a positive relationship with the local school.
Start with the Level 3 Roadmap if you already have an existing relationship with a school (i.e., through another volunteer role, your job, your child’s school…etc.).
