What is the AFS Summit?
The AFS Summit is AFS-USA’s annual national volunteer leadership conference. It is an opportunity for volunteer leaders to engage with, learn from, and share best practices with AFS volunteers and staff from all over the U.S., as well as attendees from AFS partner countries, to learn more about the organization’s priorities for the coming year, and to be re-energized by AFS-USA’s mission.
In addition to the above, the recipients of AFS-USA’s annual Volunteer Recognition Awards are announced and presented at the Summit each year. These awards celebrate and acknowledge the contributions that volunteers make to AFS-USA. To learn more about these national awards, please see the article in Help & Learning, here.
The volunteers and staff on the AFS-USA National Council plan the Summit each year. The focus, content, and invitee list are determined annually based on organizational needs and priorities.
The AFS Summit is typically held in early November each year.
The 2024 AFS Summit will be November 1-3, in Dallas, TX.
Where is the AFS Summit held?
The location of the AFS Summit changes each year. Here is a list of all AFS Summit locations, to date. Please note that the Summit was known as the AFS National Volunteer Assembly from 2009-2017 and was renamed the AFS Summit starting in 2018:
