** Please share this resource with students and parents at your Pre-Departure Orientation**
Help & Learning for Study Abroad Students and Parents is an online database of articles, information and preparation activities that are designed to prepare and support students for their AFS study abroad experience. It is shared with them once they are accepted by AFS-USA to go abroad.
Help & Learning for Study Abroad has a similar look and feel to Help & Learning for Volunteers, so will be user friendly for any volunteers wanting to assist study abroad students or their parents/guardians in finding resources. Information that would previously have been found in the AFS Guide Handbook is organized according to the various stages of the study abroad experience. There is a separate section for country resources so students can start researching the country they are planning to travel to.
What are the objectives of the Help & Learning for Host Families?
- Improve study abroad student and parent satisfaction with access to information & support.
- Provide students with comprehensive preparation tools for successful study abroad outcomes by increasing access to existing resources.
- Keep materials regularly updated so study abroad students and their parents/guardians are referencing the most current information
