Going to the Doctor
Please refer to the guidance provided to host parents on the Help and Learning for Host Families Platform for more information on what to do if a student is ill and needs medical attention.
If a participant needs to see a doctor, please ensure that they bring their Medical ID card to the appointment. The Medical ID card contains a participant's ID number and the insurance billing information for GMMI, Global Medical Management, Inc., the Insurance Administrator. Please be sure the doctor knows to submit the bill to Global Medical Management, Inc. If a provider advises that they do not take or recognize the coverage plan, we recommend host families refer that provider directly to the GMMI customer service number on the student’s Medical card for confirmation of coverage. One of GMMI’s jobs is to verify coverage to medical providers.
