In mid-June, a document that can be found here was shared with our overseas AFS partner offices and which they were asked to share with our incoming hosted participants. The document highlights what students can expect from their time in the US this year, given that it will be quite a different experience than previous AFS students have had. If the information in this document changes, we will share an updated version with you, once new information becomes available.
AFS-USA has continued to provide information to appropriately set the expectations of our hosted participants for arrival to the USA. In early August, another document that can be found here (coming soon) was shared with our overseas AFS partner offices and which they were asked to share with our incoming hosted participants.
In addition, to help ensure participants arriving to the USA during the 2020-21 school year have appropriate expectations for their program and their host school’s instructional plans, AFS-USA plans to provide AFS Sending Partners (who will in turn communicate with sending families and participants) an update one week before arrival about the status of instruction. AFS-USA is also making clear that instructional plans of host schools may change their instructional model at any time throughout the year.
