This article covers specifically how to assign School Outreach affiliations to volunteers. A general walkthrough of how to assign volunteer affiliations can be found here.
There are two types of affiliations that you can assign to a volunteer that relate to school outreach- AFS School Representative and a School Outreach Coordinator.
School Outreach Coordinator (leadership role)
- The volunteer wants to engage with school outreach for AFS- learn more here.
- They have already completed their School Outreach Training.
- Anyone with the designation of School Outreach Coordinator will be displayed on the Volunteer Leader tab on the Team widget in MyAFS.
AFS School Representative
- The volunteer wants to be specifically associated with a school in the local area- learn more here.
- This will be displayed in the school information on MyAFS for anyone in the team to view when they click on the name of the school under the Schools tab of the Team widget in MyAFS.
How to Add Affiliations
To add either of these affiliations to a volunteer’s profile, please follow the steps in this article to help you keeping the following few things in mind:
- For a School Outreach Coordinator, you will need to add TWO affiliations:
Member: {ROLE} School Outreach Coordinator
Volunteer: School Outreach Coordinator - If the volunteer is planning to be the School Outreach Coordinator for the Area Team AND they would also like to serve as the School Representative to 1-3 schools, they will need both affiliations (AFS School Representative AND School Outreach Coordinator), but the affiliation that should be tied to the school is AFS School Representative.
- Because you can add multiple affiliations to multiple organizations from the same screen, please be careful to only add the School Outreach Coordinator Member & Volunteer affiliations to the Area Team (not to the school). If you are only linking an AFS School Representative, then you can add them to the Area Team and the specific schools at the same time!
