The Sending Volunteer position in a team is very important to the promotion of AFS-USA study abroad programs to potential applicants, parents, teachers, and schools. Overwhelmingly, those participants who go abroad heard about AFS from a friend or family member, or through their school. The Sending Volunteer’s role is to work with other Sending Volunteers and the Sending Coordinator to promote Study Abroad programs at all opportunities- to friends and family, during presentations at schools, through hosted student presentations, and in meetings with school officials and guidance counselors.
Tasks
- Attend various recruitment events- like community gatherings, school events, school presentations, etc. to promote the Study Abroad programs offered by AFS-USA.
- Talk to interested applicants about our programs, know where to find information and where to direct them.
- Talk to family, friends, and others about studying abroad with AFS!
- Help develop strategies with other sending volunteers for outreach in areas where there is not an AFS presence.
